Raw Results: Grinnin’ Barrett

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

CM Punk got his televangelist on again, much to the dismay of the WWE Universe. The preachy Superstar, along with his disciple Luke Gallows, railed against Monday Night Raw and its 900 episodes, blaming the show for everything short of locusts and floods.

While Punk spat ire and brimstone, Big Show descended to the ring like an avenging angel. The World’s Largest Athlete not only silenced Punk, he slapped him across the chest with his meaty paw. As the S.E.S. high priest high-tailed it out of the ring and looked on, Show punished his brainwashed devotee, Gallows.

Smackdown Results: Disruption in the force

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

Looking to set an example for his Straight Edge Society disciples, CM Punk came out of the gate with a super aggressive offense against JTG. After dropping JTG with a GTS, Punk forced him to submit using his Anaconda Vise. After the victory, Punk demanded Luke Gallows, Joey Mercury and Serena get on their knees in the ring and said they must “be better or be gone!”

Smackdown Results:

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

The Straight Edge Society followers are in the dressing room and Luke says that he cannot forgive Punk for walking out on them at SummerSlam. Joseph asks aloud if any of them would walk away like Punk did. Serena says that Luke and Joseph don’t understand. She says that Punk was trying to teach them a lesson. They need to prove that they are strong. Serena says that tonight is their chance because they will beat Kelly Kelly and Big Show. Joseph says that Serena isn’t ready to be in a match, but Serena says that she has been training for months and that she is ready and that they will show that they deserve Punk’s admiration.

Punk enters and he wonders what they mean by his admiration. Punk says that none of them deserve anything, least of all their admiration. Punk says that he watched Raw and what Nexus did peaked his interest. Punk says that if they don’t win their match, they are out of the Straight Edge Society. Punk leaves and we go to commercial.

After the match, Punk is on the stage and he applauds their performance. Punk gives Serena a hug to celebrate her first win.

What The Punk?: CM Punk

Welcome to a brand-spakin’-new segment over at the Anaheim Punk Examiner. It’s called “What The Punk?” So what exactly is “What The Punk?” Well, let me tell you. Basically it’s expanding the “punk” to outside of just the music. It’s reserved for fans of punk rock who work in other entertainment fields, or punk artists, or even writers or athletes or actors who embody the punk spirit. Up first, WWE Superstar CM Punk. The three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion talks about his love of punk rock, The Bouncing Souls and his upcoming SummerSlam match with The Big Show.

Matt Baldwin: How did you get your start in wrestling?

CM Punk: Very D.I.Y actually, so I guess that’s a good way to start for a punk rock interview. I loved wrestling since I was a little kid, so it was the only thing I wanted to do. I didn’t know that you had to get trained, I didn’t know that there was such thing as a wrestling school, I pretty much just did the same thing that everyone else did and rolled around in backyards with my friends and stuff. We weren’t jumping off of roofs or doing any of the crazy stuff that you see kids doing today, which is a bad thing to do, but we I guess acted out our wrestling fantasies or whatever. It kind of blossomed from there. I built a ring by myself. I didn’t know how to do any of this stuff. But then me and my buddies started running shows in the Chicago-area and even though we were completely un-trained, just goofy kids, we wound up attendance-wise and entertainment wise blowing away of the other local shows. So that’s how it started.

Summerslam Results: Society shaken

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

In a 3-on-1 Handicap Match, one might expect the larger number to come out on top. But by chokeslamming Joseph Mercury onto a prone Luke Gallows, Big Show proved that just because CM Punk’s group of cronies are straight edge, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better than you – in the squared circle.

For weeks, CM Punk and the Straight Edge Society have been at odds with The World’s Largest Athlete, most recently attacking the Superstar’s hand in a brutal steel step assault, damaging tendons.

During parts of the match, The Straight Edge Society seemed to have the upper hand. Outside the ring, the group pummeled Big Show after smartly grounding him, trying to wear down the giant and give their team a better chance at pulling off the victory. But their overzealousness and cockiness in the numbers game backfired.

Never one to back down, Big Show used his anger in the bout, manhandling the bald-headed Luke Gallows and Joseph Mercury to The Second City Savior’s dismay. Though the odds may have been stacked against Show, the Knucklehead star stood firm.

Before the WWE Official finished the three-count, Punk was finished, too. The leader walked out, disgusted with the dismal performance he had just seen from his followers. With Serena falling off the wagon, and The Straight Edge Superstar continually reprimanding his devoted cohorts, the foundation of The S.E.S. appears to be on shaky ground.

What’s next for The S.E.S.? CM Punk has always been intent on saving everyone else, but can he save his own society?

Smackdown Results: SmackDown prepares for a scorcher

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

Suffering an absolute onslaught by The Straight Edge Society two weeks ago, in which his right hand was continuously stomped upon, the furious World’s Largest Athlete returned to make a powerful statement. As The S.E.S. looked on, Big Show took out three local athletes with overwhelming force in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match. The final blow came when Big Show unleashed his devastating knockout punch, using the very arm that CM Punk and his disciplines had attacked.

Will The S.E.S be able to conquer the angry giant in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match at SummerSlam?

Summerslam: Big Show vs. The Straight Edge Society

Overcoming the odds in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match seems nearly impossible for any Superstar. However, Big Show isn’t your average Superstar. At nearly 500 pounds, he is The World’s Largest Athlete.

While Big Show’s weapons are his size and strength, The Straight Edge Society boasts a propensity to band together and attack its foes like a pack of hungry predators.

On the July 30 edition of SmackDown, CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Joey Mercury and Serena brutally assaulted Big Show, repeatedly smashing and stomping his hand into the steel ring steps. (PHOTOS)

Although the beating clearly had an impact that night on SmackDown, will it only fuel the giant’s anger when he steps in the ring at SummerSlam?

With Serena falling off the wagon, and CM Punk continually reprimanding his devoted followers, the foundation of The S.E.S. appears to be on shaky ground.

At SummerSlam, either a giant will be toppled or an entire society may come crumbling down.

Find out live at the 23rd annual SummerSlam Aug. 15 at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view.

Smackdown Results: Accusations run Red

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

Though officially part of the Six-Man Tag Team Match, CM Punk opted to let Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury handle the bulk of the battle. While each Superstar looked impressive in his own right, it was a devious kick from The Straight Edge Savior from outside the ropes that caught an unsuspecting MVP off guard, setting Gallows up to finish off The Franchise Playa’ with a devastating boot to the face.

Before the Six-Man Tag Team Match, CM Punk laughed alongside the Straight Edge Society, reflecting on their vicious attack on Big Show one week ago. But, the tune of the Second City Saint quickly changed, as he began to admonish his disciples for being too pleased with their own success. Forcing them on their knees, Punk warned, “Satisfaction is the death of desire.”
