Despite having captured two World Heavyweight Championships and winning Money in the Bank for the second year in a row, CM Punk described retiring Jeff Hardy after their Steel Cage Match on SmackDown as his finest moment.

While The Straightedge Superstar also promised to prevail as WWE Superstar of the Year, his hopes were dashed in minutes when he met up with John Cena. Perhaps compensating for his loss to Sheamus at WWE: TLC, Cena showcased his considerable strength and skills against the holier-than-thou opponent to move onto the winner of the Undertaker vs. Randy Orton match. Cena then shared his thoughts with the WWE Universe: He will not lose another match before regaining the WWE Title!

While The Second City Saint continued to speak vehemently against the new WWE DVD: “Jeff Hardy: My Life, My Rules,” Matt Hardy and R-Truth chose to give out free copies, before sending “The Straightedge Savior” out of the ring with a pre-match microphone to the head. But, once the match got underway, the “once lost” Luke Gallows found victory for himself and Punk by defeating Hardy with the devastating Twelve Steps.

Following the vicious “Straightedge intervention” by Luke Gallows, Punk and the Superstar formally known as Festus absolutely decimated R-Truth, with no regard for the match that had been taking place between the rapping Superstar and The Second City Saint.

On his ongoing “crusade” to convert those in need to a straightedge lifestyle, The Second City Saint completely shocked the WWE Universe by reintroducing a reformed Luke Gallows, formerly Festus. He explained that he has gotten Gallows off the abusive drugs and away from the neglect that his family had enabled him with for so long.

After Punk proclaimed WWE Alumni Jeff Hardy’s soon to be released DVD “My Life My Rules,” a “dangerous, addictive new drug,” The Straightedge Superstar battled Jeff’s brother, Matt Hardy. But just when it looked as if Hardy would rise above the former World Champion, the vicious Gallows unleashed an unrelenting assault that left him motionless in the center of the ring.

Raw’s special guest host, Gov. Jesse Ventura, expressed his desire to break free from convention – and tonight he succeeded. He arranged a non-title match between WWE Champion John Cena and a SmackDown Superstar, CM Punk. The preachy pugilist, Punk dropped by Raw just one night after falling shy of clinching victory for Randy Orton and his team at Survivor Series. The Champ, on the other hand, was fresh off a successful title defense against Triple H and Shawn Michaels at the colossal pay-per-view.

The momentum proved too much for Punk to overcome as Cena dug in his heels and managed to triumph over his opponent’s high-energy attack.

Team Kingston and Team Orton had a lot going for them heading into their Elimination Tag Team Match, as both squads were comprised of some of the most talented Superstars that SmackDown, Raw and ECW had to offer. Just how evenly-matched the contest was became clear as the night progressed, with each team losing a member one by one until only Kingston was left on his side. Suddenly, however, the situation had swung firmly in his opponents’ favor, as Team Orton boasted two eligible competitors: CM Punk and The Viper himself.

Not one to be deterred by stiff odds, Kingston fought onward against SmackDown’s CM Punk, pinning The Straightedge Superstar after a hard-fought series of near-falls for both competitors. As soon as Punk was vanquished however, Orton was ready to spring into action. Though The Viper might have boasted more in-ring experience than Kingston, the athletic young Superstar showed that he has just what it takes to compete on WWE’s highest level. Leaping into the air and immediately connecting with Trouble in Paradise, the rising star defeated Orton to win the match for his team, pinning two former World Champions in the span of six seconds.

The Straightedge Superstar carried out a one-man Straightedge intervention on the WWE Universe, attempting to show them “how to survive” by disposing of cigarettes, prescription pills, and alcohol into a metal trash can. However, his efforts came to a sudden halt when R-Truth decided to carry out an intervention of his own. After knocking Punk to the ground, the rapping Superstar emptying the contents of the trash can on top of Punk before using it to bash The Second City Saint in his rib cage.

Survivor Series opponents met on ECW on Syfy this week, as SmackDown’s CM Punk joined William Regal to take on the blue brand’s R-Truth and ECW Champion Christian. Punk & Regal – members of Team Orton at Survivor Series – earned the tag team victory. After R-Truth injured his leg during a kick to Regal, Christian attempted the Killswitch on Punk. But Regal retaliated with a running Knee Trembler, allowing Punk to capitalize and hit the ECW Champion with a devastating Go To Sleep. Christian & R-Truth enter Team Kingston at Survivor Series with a defeat, while Punk & Regal have the upper hand. Who will walk away from Survivor Series victorious? One week after a fast count by aggravated WWE official Scott Armstrong cost CM Punk his match against R-Truth, The Straightedge Superstar overcame the rapping Superstar with a little help from his surroundings. As R-Truth was escaping the GTS and attempting a counter pinfall, The Second City Saint suddenly dropped down upon him, clutching the ropes to secure his three-count, just outside the official’s view.

The frustration within ex-champion CM Punk continued to grow when The Straightedge Superstar was defeated by R-Truth. Ironically, Punk set himself up for the loss when he demanded referee Scott Armstrong count faster with this three-counts. While Punk continued to make demands of Armstrong, Truth capitalized by throwing Punk to the canvas. With Punk down, Armstrong did what he was asked to do and pounded out a fast three-count giving Truth the win.
