Before their match, Luke Gallows roughed up his former mentor CM Punk in the locker room area. With The Straight Edge Society no more, Gallows was looking to prove his mettle on his own. However, The Second City Saint stopped his former disciple cold by stunning him with the GTS.

DIGITAL PICTURESSCREEN CAPTURES

Just like he did two nights earlier on SmackDown, Big Show downed CM Punk with a debilitating knockout punch.

Outweighed by The World’s Largest Athlete, Punk did his best to hold his own against the near 500-pounder.

However, before the match even began, The Second City Saint dissed his own hometown by calling Chicago’s residents the “scum of the earth.” With the disrespectful rant, perhaps The Straight Edge Society leader was doomed from the start.

Did the highly-visible loss on the pay-per-view stage shake the very foundation of The Straight Edge Society? Or, will Punk forge onward with his message of living the straight edge lifestyle? And, who is next to feel the full force of The World’s Largest Athlete? Find out on the next SmackDown at 8/7 CT on MyNetworkTV.

With Alberto Del Rio sitting in at the announce table, Captain Charisma took on CM Punk. At a pivotal moment, Del Rio grabbed both the microphone and Christian’s attention, opening the door for The Second City Saint to execute the GTS for the pin.

Afterward, Del Rio put his chair on top of Christian, reiterating that he would not face him at Night of Champions. When Big Show stormed to the ring, Del Rio looked ready to hit The World’s Largest Athlete with the chair. Although this gave Punk time to attack his Night of Champions opponent, Big Show quickly turned the tables, blasting Punk with a knockout punch.

He came. He saw. He conquered CM Punk.

Even though still feeling the lingering effects of being attacked by Kane, The Undertaker summoned from within to get the job done against the leader of The Straight Edge Society. After downing Punk with a chokeslam, it looked like it was over, but Punk managed to kick out of an attempted pinfall. Next, The Deadman went for a Tombstone, but Punk countered with the GTS. Finally, using his lethal Hell’s Gate submission hold, The Phenom forced Punk to tap out.

Night of Champions Preview: Big Show vs. CM Punk
Published on September 10th, 2011 by Fabiola, Filed in General News, Preview, Comment? (1)

At Night of Champions, Big Show will step into the ring with CM Punk, as the powerful knockout punch of The World’s Largest Athlete clashes with the full power of Straight Edge.

Big Show has pledged to eradicate CM Punk from WWE and with good reason. Punk nearly broke the gigantic Superstar’s hand with the assistance of his Straight Edge Society. Though Big Show went on to overcome The S.E.S. at SummerSlam, The Second City Saint’s early departure from the match prevented the giant from finishing the job.

After Big Show ridiculed the Straight Edge way-of-life on Monday Night Raw’s 900th episode celebration, Luke Gallows was sent forth to destroy him. However, when the “Sin-free Soldier” tapped out to Big Show’s Colossal Clutch, Punk became unhinged and executed the GTS on his own war-torn disciple! Now, with the future of The S.E.S. uncertain, Punk could be in for an enormous problem.

Though “The minister of Straight Edge” is the smaller of the two Superstars, that doesn’t mean he should be taken lightly. Punk is a two-time Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner and a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. His cunning nature is only outdone by his plentiful arsenal of dangerous maneuvers – most notably the dreaded Anaconda Vise – which helped claim a victory over the legendary Undertaker.

Will Big Show throw The Straight Edge Savior into a crooked future of pain? Find out at Night of Champions, Sunday, Sept. 19, at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view.
