Monday Night Results: End of The Road

DIGITAL PICTURES — SCREEN CAPTURES
Randy Orton appeared hungry for CM Punk’s head on a platter. And really, who could blame him? Last week, Punk terrorized Orton’s wife on their tour bus in order to lure his WrestleMania opponent into perilous straits. When The Viper arrived to defend his wife, Punk hobbled him with a wrench to the knee.
Returning to his hometown, The Second City Savior boasted about the ambush and theorized that Orton had developed a false sense of security after defeating each of Punk’s New Nexus disciples. Having heard enough, WWE’s Apex Predator confronted his tormentor. Amid the ensuing scuffle, Orton lined up to punt The Second City Savior in the skull. Unfortunately for him, though, his knee wouldn’t allow it. Punk seized the opportunity and instead leveled Orton with a jaw-rattling GTS.

There are some lines you just don’t cross – unless, of course, you’re CM Punk. As his WrestleMania opponent, Randy Orton, faced off with Rey Mysterio in a WrestleMania 22 rematch, The Second City Savior had unholy intentions. Just when it appeared The Viper was verging on victory, Punk appeared on the TitanTron standing outside Orton’s private bus and intimating that he was preparing to confront Orton’s wife inside.
WWE’s Apex Predator fled the ring and bolted for his bus outside, resulting in a loss by count-out. When he arrived, Orton found his wife terrified but safe. Punk then ambushed his WrestleMania foe, leaving him crumpled on the asphalt.

Monday Night Raw Results – Feign “The Rock” Johnson

Three up, three down. First, there was Michael McGillicutty. Next up, David Otunga. And now, a third New Nexus disciple, Mason Ryan, has taken his place at the end of The Viper’s boot. Orton managed to defeat all three men in three weeks. And in doing so, he prevented all of them from being in CM Punk’s corner during his WrestleMania bout against Orton. Not only that, after each of his three respective victories, The Viper punted each man in the skull, in direct defiance of The Second City Savior.

Ouch. As if being trounced by CM Punk wasn’t agonizing enough, the New Nexus leader’s disciple, Mason Ryan, muscled in on the action. The overwhelming underling proved his fealty by pummeling Truth with a painful powerhouse move.
Another week, another casualty. Despite suffering an ambush from The New Nexus, Randy Orton competed in a match against New Nexus disciple David Otunga. As stipulated by the Raw GM a week ago, should Otunga win he could be in CM Punk’s corner during his bout with The Viper at WrestleMania. Were he to lose, however, he would be banned.
As the match wore on, Orton exhibited stamina and determination enough to eventually overcome his sizable foe. Afterward, WWE’s Apex Predator lined up to punt Otunga in the skull. Before he could, Mason Ryan burst onto the scene, only to find himself RKO’d. The chaos prompted Punk himself to join the fray and plead with Orton not to follow through with his patented punt. Rather than abide, however, Orton reared back and fated Otunga to the same fate as fellow Nexi Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris before him.

Monday Night Raw Results: “Tweet” justice

The Raw General Manager has proven he or she is as astute as they are anonymous. Sensing that tensions between Randy Orton and CM Punk have risen to uncontrollable heights, the GM declared that the two will settle their substantial differences on a stage equally as grand, WrestleMania XXVII.
During the announcement, the GM also revealed that Orton must face every one of Punk’s New Nexus disciples in singles matches over the next few weeks. If The Viper defeats that member, they are banned from WrestleMania. However, should any member defeat Orton, that member is permitted to be in Punk’s corner at The Show of Shows. Not only that, if any New Nexus member interferes, the group will be disbanded.
So far, Orton 1 – New Nexus 0. WWE’s Apex Predator battled Michael McGillicutty and managed to defeat the fellow third-generation Superstar. Dealing a further blow to The Second City Savior, Orton punted McGillicutty in the head after Punk pleaded that he show restraint.
WrestleMania 27 Preview – Punk vs. Orton

Since emerging as the leader of The New Nexus, CM Punk has made plenty of enemies on Raw, but none of his adversaries are quite as dangerous as Randy Orton. With the rivalry between The Viper and The Second City Savior escalating exponentially in recent weeks, it seems there is only one place where their myriad differences can truly be settled: WrestleMania.
After The Viper and his Legacy cohorts cost Punk the World Heavyweight Championship in September 2008, the unforgiving Straight Edge Superstar launched a long-gestating premeditated attack against Orton at Royal Rumble, preventing WWE’s Apex Predator from attaining The Miz’s WWE Title. (PHOTOS)
In the weeks that followed, it became increasingly clear that the strife between these two Superstars extended beyond the pursuit of championship gold – especially after Orton punted The New Nexus’ portly powerhouse Husky Harris in the skull and took him out of action indefinitely. Realizing that the back-and-forth attacks would only worsen, The Second City Saint warned Orton to keep his distance. But as the WWE Universe can attest, Orton only listens to the voices in his head, all of which were seemingly telling him to continue dismantling The New Nexus – Punk, Michael McGillicutty, David Otunga and Mason Ryan – until it was no more.
Seeking some form of resolution to this conflict, Raw’s anonymous General Manager decreed that Orton and Punk would battle on The Grandest Stage of Them All at WrestleMania XXVII. Additionally, the GM scheduled Orton in a series of singles matches against members of The New Nexus leading up to The Showcase of the Immortals. If The Viper emerged victorious, that New Nexus member would be barred from ringside at The Show of Shows. However, any member that managed to defeat Orton would be in Punk’s corner on April 3 at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. In the interest of fairness, if any New Nexus members interfered in this series of bouts, Raw’s GM would personally disband The New Nexus on the spot.
Since Orton had already punted Harris into oblivion, The Viper was tasked with facing Punk’s remaining disciples one-on-one, first annhilating McGillicutty with an RKO. Like Harris, McGillicutty was further punished with a boot to the side of the skull after the match.
Will Orton finally humble the sanctimonious and power-hungry New Nexus leader? Or will Punk continue to tighten his vise-like grip on Monday Night Raw with a WrestleMania victory over The Viper? To find out, tune in to WrestleMania, April 3, only on pay-per-view.
