WWE Champion CM Punk will share some of his most entertaining stories Wednesday at the ComedySportz Theatre in Lakeview and then watch as the ComedySportz improv group acts them out. The event will be hosted by fellow wrestler and ComedySportz alum Colt Cabana and will benefit the Sam Thompson Memorial Fund.

Thompson, brother of ComedySportz ensemble member Zach Thompson, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 9 months old, underwent a lung transplant and later was diagnosed with stomach cancer before dying in June. “(Sam was) a die-hard wrestling fan,” Cabana wrote by email. “… All the bills added up, and we’re trying to raise money to help out.”

The night will also include a silent auction featuring wrestling memorabilia. As for what kind of stories we can expect from Punk, Cabana said, “Punk really wanted to share a story about his trip to Iraq with (WWE CEO) Vince McMahon.”
