The first man to be introduced in the Royal Rumble is Dolph Ziggler. Number Two is the high flying Evan Bourne. The bell rings and we’re ready to start. Ziggler jaws at Bourne and they both eye the WrestleMania sign. Bourne catches Ziggle with a coulpe of kicks and a hurricarana before connecting with a heel kick to Ziggler’s jaw. Ziggler almost knocks Bourne out with a dropkick, but Bourne fights him off and stays in the ring. Bourne launches himself up off of Ziggler and connects with the double knees to Ziggler’s chest. Bourne knocks Ziggler to the apron, but he makes it back into the ring. Ziggler connects with the Zig Zag out of nowhere, and he throws Bourne to the apron, but Bourne kicks Ziggler and comes back in the ring with a Shooting Star Press, the buzzer rings and number three is CM Punk with Sarita. Punk goes after both Bourne and Ziggler and he immediately eliminates both.
Punk grabs the mic and thanks the crowd for joining him for the most historic moment the Straight Edge Society has seen. 29 other men will either be eliminated or saved. The clock counts down and number four is JTG. JTG goes right to work on CM Punk, but when he charges Punk in the corner, he finds himself eliminated. Punk gets right back on the mic and says not everyone can win the Rumble, just like not everyone can be saved. Not everyone has his dedication. And tonight he’ll be the first straight edge Rumble winner. The clock counts down again and this time it’s the Great Khali. Punk tries to save Khali, telling him he can make him greater. Punk says he can see the pain in Khali’s eyes and he needs to be saved. He asks Khali to raise his right hand and accept straight edge into his life, but Khali hits a chop and locks in the vice. The clock counts down again and the next entrant is Beth Phoenix.
Khali immediately picks up Beth and puts her over the rope and directs her to the back. Beth kisses Khali and drags him over the top rope, while remaining on the apron. She turns around and goes right to work on Punk, trying to eliminate him. Punk connects with the G2S on Phoenix. The clock counts down again and the next man in is Zack Ryder. Punk eliminates Phoenix. Punk says that Ryder has potential, but he double crosses Ryder and hits him with the mic. Punk sends Ryder over the top rope and eliminates another person. Punk asks who’s next, and says that whoever it is he’s better than them, because he’s better than everyone there today. The next entrant in is Triple H. Hunter makes his way to the ring slowly, and Punk hypes himself up. Punk and Hunter stare each other down, and Punk tries for a right, but Hunter fights him off. Hunter connects with a knee and puts Punk back into the corner, pounding on him. Punk connects with a high knee, but Hunter fights off the bull dog and hits a spinebuster.
The next entrant is Drew McIntyre. Hunter fights off McIntyre as soon as he gets in the ring with a high knee. Hunter tries for the pedigree on Punk, but Punk fights out. Punk tries for the G2s, but Hunter fights out and sends him out of the ring.

Damn, now I watched Royal Rumble, too. Damn, most of this ppv was great and not really PG like. But I was really glad that no referees or paramedics entered the ring und disturbed the matches because of a little bit of blood. I didn’t expect that the wwe would give Punk so much presentation time and I was really entertained.
And yeah, I really hoped that Edge would return and win the rr. Wow, it was great to see him beeing back.
The entire PPV was rather spectacular, at least in my view. And when I mean spectacular, I mean decent. Enough for me to buy the DVD once it comes out. Punk just owned the ‘Rumble for the time being there. He was the second person to toss out the most, HBK the first… and that, to me, says something. Him doing promos during the match, sitting out there by himself, than eliminating Beth Phoenix was great, it was good. And I think those were new trunks? If I’m not mistaken, red and white in that pattern. He should have gone longer, I feel, but Triple H…
Hopefully it’ll all be worth it, Punk/Gallows beating DX for the titles, than going on all three brands. That would be FANTASTIC. Oh and Serena looked SO good. Per usual.

That was fantastic, congratulations to the WWE on using CM Punk so effectively, he did indeed own the ring in terms of presence until he was eliminated by H. It was thinking outside the box by WWE and that made it very entertaining and a pleasure to watch. Man, Punk looked so good, I never get tired of what he brings to his matches, just awesome, he re-invigorates and reinventes himself in subtle ways each week, I dont how he does it!. Congratulations to Edge, Im looking forward to seeing him presumably on Smackdown soon. Three people alone stood out in the Rumble, CM Punk then Triple H, then obviously the winner Edge. It was very interesting. Big congratulations to the WWE on a great PPV on the whole. And congratulations to the gorgeous and talented Mickie James
On another note, I received a few emails from folks saying Shawn Michaels has gone into the media (or been reported) as saying he has not liked or appreciated CM Punk’s whole ‘saviour’ thing. All I can say is that if you Shawn associate the word ‘saviour’ or ‘save’ as used by CM Punk with ‘Jesus’ then you are only responding to your own conditioning which makes you think Jesus is and was the only ‘saviour’. There’s actually many saviours throughout history, dont get hung up thinking its an insult to just one saviour even if you think he’s the only one. And also dont be hypocritical, as I remember you feuded with GOD in the form of Vince McMahon who boldly stated “I am God” Isnt that what the antichrist says in the Bible, but you were cool with that right!? All Im saying is dont be too high and mighty or judgemental about what CM Punk is doing. His message is 100% positive in essence if you take the time to listen and look past the chosen projection of it. If you feel ‘challenged’ by it, then you should figure out why you feel that way and sort it within yourself. Punk has fans who are Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Athiest and Anarchist, and no-one thinks CM Punk is playing Jesus except Christians which I find very amusing and actually very funny. There once was a time when you needed answers to your own issues, right? Well for a lot of us, it has NOT been found in Jesus and that does NOT mean we are all less than you Christian folk. I hope you will decide to have a match with CM Punk because its your amazing skills we are interested in and not your religious beliefs. PEACE 2 you man. Punknut.

Im yet to catch this PPV but im thankful CM Punk got a lot of time apparently and that there is now a PPV worth seeing, the last ones have been mostly disapointing. I’ll make further comment when Ive seen it.

So enjoyed that ppv, the Rumble was fun, CM Punk and Triple H were amazing to watch, in different ways, but Edge winning was a shock, but then not when I thought about it afterwards. Edge is an awesome wrestler, you are in for a treat punknut watching Edge, he is really good. Im really happy for CM Punk tho, he was outstanding {as he always is, ofcourse!

Hi every1, did you guys notice how the crowd was chanting CM Punk, CM Punk, CM Punk all the way through until he was tossed by 3H, it was so loud it made me so fucking happy, he got more cheers than any1 else in the Rumble. Edge is cool, I was always a hardcore fans of his, im happy he is back, but Im a true CM Punk fan now, NOTHING will deviate me from my desire to worship this wrestler like FOREVER. CM Punk didnt win, but lets be honest, he did in sooooo many other ways. Thankyou WWE for a great, great Royal Rumble. YES!

He is the best, he didnt win as you said, but he may as well have, he shone so brightly amongst all the other wrestlers, Im not just saying this because Im a Punk fan, but really your eyes were on him constantly until Hunter removed him. Just amazing.
What I love so much about CM Punk is his complexity, some people love him, others hate him, some cant understand who he is, others remain baffled by him, others dont care they just love how he entertains them, even if they boo, others still just love his awesome arsenal of wrestling skills, its endless what this guy can do and how far he can push things. He is so the BEST. The Rumble was massive, Punk was AMAZING. We need new words, our superlatives are getting too used. Im really happy how the WWE has been treating CM Punk lately. I think they are finally understanding how good Punk is at his job.
To Shawn, I read on headlineplanet.com what punknut was talking about, dont go there Shawn, we are not all saints like you, stick to the wrestling pal, thats what you are good at. When Jesus returns to save all his favourite children, I hope he picks you, Im certain he will pick CM Punk, simply because like Jesus, Punk was never a sheep or a follower but carved his own way through a hard early life and chose strength of character as his armory and not drink, drugs or whores as a recreation. This Royal Rumble was a lesson in who is the most popular wrestler at the WWE right now. Put 30 of the most popular and famous wrestlers in a ring and see who gets the cheers and chants? CM PUNK got the biggest cheers and chants, I was just jumping up and down like a 280pound kid when I heard the fans chanting his name, and I rarely jump. Any fool with ears would have heard the chanting of Punks name at the Rumble, it was so clear, they wanted him more than any other of the 30 wrestlers in that ring. 2 days ago I was a little conflicted over Triple H vs Punk on Smackdown because I have always loved Triple H, I still do, but Im not conflicted today. Today I feel so proud to be a CM PUNK fan. SO FUCKING PROUD.
I hope WWE rewards CM Punk with a championship belt soon, he just so deserves a reward.
Hooray, CM Punk was lovely on the rumble. I think like Punky or triple h threw out the most wrestlers. Punky or triple h should have won, I like edge, but Punk would have used the win for his storyline and it would have made it stronger. But he stole the show anyway, it was so obvious and the crowd loved him, they were calling his name

For those who have read punknut’s above piece and his address to Shawn and Shawn’s comments on Shawn’s apparent dislike of CM Punk and Punk’s savior gimmick, go to wrestlingforum.com and their latest story about it. What is most interesting is that almost all of the forum members over there have told Shawn to “butt out” and “keep your religion to yourself” and, “dont diss CM Punk for his storyline” etc etc. It seems most people are captivated by what CM Punk is doing and how damn well he is doing it. Wherever you go lately, its all about CM Punk! Who won the Royal Rumble? lol And if Vince Mcmahon wants to make this really big, he knows how to do it. Afterall he is God right? lol Belts, Titles and Wrestlemania and therein something very big for CM Punk to use to propel his storyline and himself into every home in America. Such an opportunity. If I was an executive at the WWE id be salivating over this. Well done to CM Punk at his very impressive show stealer at the Rumble. Who won again, it felt like CM Punk did. Interesting to see Punk/Gallows will be on Raw next week for the tag team titles. A tripple threat match with DX and Big Show/Miz. To be honest not holding out much hope given the push that the Miz is getting, but hoping for a good match. general plan seems to be to have SD stars on Raw and Raw stars on SD unitl the next PPV. interesting….
You have to give hope, Julie. I mean, it just doesn’t make SENSE.. and like Punk said in a shoot interview before he went to the WWE, if something made sense, like jumping out a plane naked into razor blades, he would do it. Things make sense, and having a two week tag team like Miz & Big Show doesn’t. DX doesn’t, because they are doing their own things… if they seriously don’t put Punk & Gallows over, it just shows how selfish the both are. I respect both guys abilities, but Triple H has been really selifish. And Shawn, with his little pissy mood over the ‘savior’ gimmick, when he participated in some ridiculous, stupid “God” vs McMahons angle is hypocritical.

I agree with you totally, just not sure WWE would give titles ot Punk, Triple H is too selfish for that!!. The thing I don’t get is why show/miz are in the contest anyway, when Punk/Gallows won the number 1 contender match, but then this is WWE it doesn’t always make sence does it? lol I’m trying to hold judgement and see how this one plays out, but one of the other things that concerns me is the “saviour” thing. There has been a lot of negative publicity areound it from various religious groups/parental groups etc not just HBK beeing moody, and with Mrs McMahons political aspirations at the fore, I just don’t know.
It would make sence to me to give Punk the win, cos lets face it he’s the best they have, besides Miz has a title, show is past it and DX are busy enough being circus clowns, but has I said, it is WWE and things aren’t always has they seem are they? lol

Hi to Julie and ThatEdgeyMan – Guys, it would be a very odd move for the WWE to give Miz/Big Show the Unified Tag Belts, simply because the Miz has a belt and it would just be Jericho/Big Show all over again if they went in that direction, too soon for Big Show to be carting around belts again I feel. My feeling is DX will defeat Punk/Gallows unfortunately, that would be a little sad as Triple H has thus far defeated Punk twice, on SD and at the Rumble, seems a little bias and unfair for Triple H to keep on defeating CM Punk, though I do honestly feel Punk/Gallows truly deserve the wear those belts, especially CM Punk, he’s worked so hard making a difficult storyline incredibly successful, its true what Punk said, even if what he said was scripted, he brings the belts “dignity”. When CM Punk wears a title belt, it looks real and natural, he does just bring respect to those belts. And Luke Gallows has never falted in his support role, he is a worthy second to CM Punk for a tag belt. But its RAW, nothing makes sense over there, unfortunately it is a bit of a circus, but I would love to see CM Punk and Luke Gallows roam from show to show for a while, as long as the match quality doesnt slip, I have noticed that can happen with some of the tag title holders. In regard to Mr Michaels, I’d hope he’d understand that what CM Punk is doing is a storyline and furthermore credit CM Punk for successfully doing what is quite difficult to pull off, he has done an incredible job, I do not know how anyone in the business could not respect CM Punks abilities in making a very difficult storyline come to life and engage so many people in so many ways. The kid is something to behold.
LOL Why do I get the feeling that CM Punk was just the person to think of bringing Beth into the all male Rumble arena, Id put cash down that he was behind that, brilliant man, that was one of the coolest things ive seen in a Royal Rumble and she lifted Punk too, very cool and very funny. I so love Beth, she’s a real man’s fantasy that girl.

To bill. a lot of the stuff I’ve read about the storyline is more aimed at WWE for creating it rather than Punk’s delivery, which you just can’t fault. some people do have very high morals and it is annoying a lot of groups, but then this is wrestling, its all a storyline, but I suppose all publicity is good publicity, At least its got people talking not matter what your point of view is. As for the tag titles, I can’t decide which way that’ll go, just don’t believe HHH will give up to Punk, expecially after only a couple of months, he’s too full of himself for that (but I may be bias seeing as I have a undeniable loathing of HHH! LOL)
Also noticed this months WWE mag seemed to have punk mentioned more than usual. Don’t know if its just boosting up his heel character, but good ot see. Also just read the spoilers for SD, sounding good folks
