Bitter about losing the World Heavyweight Championship to The Undertaker, CM Punk was disgusted to not hear SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long announce an automatic title rematch. It appeared, however, The Straightedge Superstar would get his wish when Mr. McMahon arrived. Not exactly.
After expressing some displeasure with Teddy Long that seemed to suggest his opinion that the GM is continuing to provoke the World Heavyweight Champ, the WWE Chairman told Punk he will have the opportunity to reclaim the gold at WWE Bragging Rights. But, “The Second City Saint” won’t be the only one to have a chance. Mr. McMahon introduced a Fatal-4-Way Match for the title that will require The Deadman to defend his championship against Punk, Rey Mysterio and Batista.
The night didn’t get any easier for Punk as he had to deal with The Animal in the main event. Despite outsmarting Batista to win by count-out, the former three-time World Heavyweight Champion couldn’t escape a bone-crushing Batista Bomb after the match had ended. Was this a sign of things to come for Punk? Or will he be the one celebrating with the title at WWE Bragging Rights?

Average episode, everyone looked tired, presumably after Hell in a Cell.
…BUT with the exception of one match, the Main Event, Punk v Batista. Great matchup (thank God!!!)…fair result for both guys… I can live with that, for now!
I know a lot of folks here are not Batista fans but I like the guy, he is not a quick mover but there is a sense of realness and a down to earth way about him which I appreciate. In Australia we’d say of a guy like Batista that he was ‘built like a brick shithouse’ – which is a big compliment to his physicality. And congrats to both Punk and to Batista (especially Punk) for allowing Batista to properly execute his ‘batista bomb’ move. Since Batista has been back on Smackdown none of his ‘batista bombs’ have been executed properly due mainly to the lack of skill in Batista’s opposition. My understanding is that the crotch of Batista’a opposition should NOT be in his face at elevation, but should be lifted higher. But alas our CM Punk makes all things possible and finally a fully-delivered ‘Batista Bomb’ (with dignity!) which this time looked AWESOME. Well done CM Punk!
Agree with Julie, WWE why make Punk scape around for means to cheat?!, its so unesessary, seriously! He can win any match against anyone without resorting to that shit. Heels dont need to be so one-dimensional, c’mon WWE give the guy some credit! He’s doing more than you people see and recognize…

And oh fuck, somebody get Undertaker a motorised wheelchair cause it took like forever to get the prick to the ring. Between that, the scrolling words, the smoke, thunder, lightning etc etc etc and all the bullshit I was like “somebody fucking wrestle!”
And thanks to the commentators, particularly JR for making some positive and long overdue comments on CM Punk and his skills… he is waaaaay ahead of all the other wrestlers in terms of EVERYTHING!
Totally concur. Finally an authentic batista bomb and indeed it did look powerful. My heckles did go up when I saw CM Punk crawling underneath the ring looking for a chair or whatever, my thinking was “WHY wwe?” “What was the purpose of it?”
Rey Mysterio battled Jericho punknut, you are right too in saying it was sloppy. Mis-timed, got lost toward the end, was not the best way for Rey to return to singles.
I am too so over Mr Undertaker. Seeing him on my television screen is like seeing my first wife when she picks up my kids every second weekend!
CM PUNK pulled Smackdown up to save it, when Undertaker seemingly appears to drown it.
Im just relieved Punk has moved on from Taker, that was such a godamn mess. I thought the match was solid. Batistas best gig since he’s been back on sd. First time since bombing Orton on leaving raw that he looked effective. Where would smakdown be without cm punk? Great breakdown punknut
The only time I wanna see that turkey Taker against Punk is when Punk gets his DESERVED world title back? Agree with the other guys, Batista’s first real showing and he owes it all to CM PUNK. Im happy with a technical win, though you guys realize that Punk hasnt had a realdeal win since Matt Hardy!
yeeehaaaah for cm punk. Good match and punk was fantastic. but the match was too short. Felt like a long wait for something good, was worth it in the end but.

Praise the Lord, we have a return to real wrestling! RESPECT to CM PUNK and BATISTA! Such a good feeling to just watch some quality wrestling again.

Wresling as it was meant to be! Big sigh! Man, that Batista Bom just flowed so sweetly. Punk got some high altitude air up there! Batistas best bomb no doubt. I also loved when Punk was walking to the ring and he says to someone “Shut up, just shut up!” So funny.
He is soooooooo gorgeous. Seeing him bask in his own glory when he won was HOT! What a sexy smile that man has! Bastista might be ‘the animal’, but Cm Punk is the ‘sexy beast!’

ohhh, did you guys and gals notice that people didnt cheer as loud for the undertaker as they usually do and they didnt boo as loud as usual for Punk? I dont think I was imagining that. I thought that was interesting…

just a thought, but if all of us lot are thinking the same, why the hell are WWE missing the point!! haven’t they worked out yet that people who watch wrestling want to see wrestling, not chris jericho whinging on about god know what! If it wasn’t for Punk and a couple of other wrestlers I think I’d just be watching ECW by now.

CM Punk and Batista this week reminded me why Im into this crazy sport! I never thought much of the famed Batista Bomb it never looking somehow right to me until yesterday when I watched Batista and Punk perform it ~ WOW, that was BIG! Some of Punks knees and kicks were just out there! That man could dent a tree trunk with one of his kicks or knees/
CM Punks kick into Batista from the outside of the ring was radical. I loved that Jim Ross called Punk the muay thai master, that was cool.

Late in with a comment fellow CM Punk fans! This weeks show for me was along the lines of the prior 3 weeks of Smackdown, have to say, a real strength of endurance to push through, slow, self-indulgent = the Undertaker = can the man talk any slower? Can the man walk any slower? Enough already with the negatives! Lets move on!
The matching of CM PUNK versus BATISTA was the salvation of the show. Two complete opposites in so many ways but just good old fashioned high octane wrestling. They actually complimented each others styles wonderfully which was unexpected. Batistas signature move was a high end to a gruelling match but gee wasnt CM Punk clever. How good is CM Punk? Not enough praise for how exceptional he is to his craft. Credo’s too to Mr Jim Ross, we all gave him a hard time last week but he stepped up as well and provided CM Punks fans some fine commentary, thank you JR, we appreciate your work. Your use of the english language was a joy – “verticality”!
Congratulations Punky, I hope you recovered ok from Batistass slam, that looked like painful. You looked so hot this week. I agree with the other females, you have a killer smile. When you had Batista locked down in the middle of the ring and you were shouting ‘who’s the man!’, I have to admit I was saying from my sofa with pepsi in hand ‘you are the man’, ‘OMG you are so the man’ Cold shower for me soon after! You should definately stop smiling and laughing, you make girls go crazy hehe

Just for your info, but here in England the Punk/Taker Casket Match is still being advertised as a title match for 10 nov, so maybe Taker isn’t gonna loose at bragging rights – damn!

Perhaps CM Punk gets his WHC belt back at your mentioned casket match, but to witness another stupid and unlikely victory for the Undertaker before then at Bragging Rights, this time over three serious contenders seems like we are heading back into and indeed deeper and deeper into the mire we have just tried to pull ourselves out of. You do realise that ‘the casket match’ was invented by the Undertaker!!! just as Hell in a Cell was supposedly modelled around his style! Please Lords of the wrestling world – NO MORE UNDERTAKER ! I agree with everyone, there has to be a cut back on the Undertaker versus Punk stuff, it hasnt worked, it will never work. Punk is too good for him and it shows even when Punk does his sincere best lay down and die routine. If it was some kind of grooming Punk for the top spot then I dont think WWE would have used him so cheaply to give Undertaker a soft 7th World Title, which most of us have agreed was a walk-in and complete BULLSHIT! We are all trying not to get caught up again in all the negativity of the past 3 weeks, lets hope WWE wants to move forward and away from this lifeless matchup.

couldn’t agree more with you guys! Yes I know Undertaker invented casket match, which was the worrying point for me cos I really can’t see WWE letting Punk win it on that basis alone. You’re right rob, punk is being used cheaply and no one is buying it all. I think the casket match is scheduled for 10 nov, this will be a televised smackdown show from what I understand, but have also heard talk of it being a dark match. Maybe that would be better then we can all just pretend it never happened! Punk/Undertaker is so dead in the water, Punk needs to move on to better opponents, I think the reaction from Punk/Batista match said it all, people realise Punk’s talent and skill now and know it was Punk making the undertaker look better than he is, not the other way around. Apologies, just realised this post as turned into an essay!

Whoaa Batisa.. Careful with him. He potatos everything and appently he’s really rough in Genernal. However for match up and story wise it should make huge headlines and it can make a huge match in genernal. However he just Batisa. he needs to do something new. Seems like CM Punk is needed again to make a face charater even better. Signs of a great heel thats for sure.
Heres hoping that dave Batisa is still not part of “The Clique”
