Despite World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk once again finding a way to beat The Undertaker, The Phenom will have his chance for revenge against The Straightedge Superstar at Hell in a Cell. And, as per SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, The Deadman’s Hell’s Gate submission hold is now fully legal.
As World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk battled Undertaker in the night’s main event, the thoughts of what transpired at WWE Breaking Point were still fresh in the minds of everyone in the WWE Universe. As both Superstars waged war, the action spilled out onto the arena floor. It looked as if Punk was done for, when The Deadman prepared to slam him onto the announce table. But, The Straightedge Superstar managed to avoid being trounced and pushed Undertaker onto the announce table. As the ref neared the 10-count, Punk slithered back into the ring. The Deadman entered right on Punk’s tail, but it was not quick enough to avoid the ref’s final count of 10.

Here is an update our report late last night about CM Punk in the dog house in WWE right now.
As we noted, the decision was made to have Punk lose the World title in the opening match at the Hell In A Cell PPV due to him having heat with management due to an incident on the recent European tour.
According to sources, there was apparently an issue on Punk’s dress code during the tour. The story goes that at one point Undertaker pulled him aside and explained that he’s the World champion and representing the WWE brand and name overseas, so he should dress better. Punk reportedly said something along the lines of “what about John Cena?” which wasn’t taken very well.
The incident got back to WWE management and they decided that they weren’t thrilled with Punk’s actions and response and the decision was made. While it was already likely Punk was dropping the title at the PPV
, it was decided that he would lose what would ultimately be a quiet squash match in the very first match on the show.
but this is what j.r.said about punk at Hell In The Cell PPV:
“HIAC was an interesting event from my perspective at ringside. I found out somewhat later than usual that the Punk-Undertaker was going on first which changes one’s dynamic as the biggest match SD had to broadcast was that particular one. I actually enjoyed the wrestling side of the World Title bout and “felt” the story that was being told. I assume that Punk will get a return match in the future but don’t know the official date.

They are trying to shift peoples focus away from the fact that Taker doesnt deserve a World Championship and are covering there own asses from the heat that is now coming from smart wrestling fans who know this shit is bogus.
Yeah man, well said… Im really disapointed in J.R. at reading this statement (thanks Cami for the insert) It is not just my bias to say this, but that match last night was the worst Ive ever seen. And the apparent inside politics since Undertakers return which is now being reported ie the ‘dress-code politics’ story, if true, costing Punk his World Title, is just abhorrent. And you people at WWE wonder why wrestling has lost its credibility and been reduced to the moniker “entertainment”. It really does just look like WWE for its own agenda is shitting all over its best and realest wrestler – CM Punk.

Its unbelievable that whenever the Undertaker returns, all the other wrestlers have to drop their shorts and bend over. Im so over that piss-weak treatment of the better wrestlers like CM Punk and Randy Orton at the hands of the Undertaker and his WWE power-brokers/girly-men. No way Randy Orton would have gotten tombstoned as in last weeks Smackdown and absolutely no fucking way a 31 year old World Champion (CM Punk) is gonna go down to an old parady of something that is using the name Undertaker. There is a lot of real anger among wrestling fans across the world at this debarkle that was yesterdays hell in a cell. And in reading Jim Ross’s very brief analysis of the passing hell in a cell and having respected him for years I have to say Im extremely disappointed in how he said he “felt the storyline” Jim, there has been no feeling in any of the matches Undertaker has been in with CM PUNK and Punk is worthy of better treatment at the hands of WWE. No paycheck is worth your soul.
Very unhappy at how that happened at HIAC, and what is being said today about the reasons why. The deadman has dishonored himself in the eyes of many, including me.
