Damn! Okay, Punk did pretty good, he got time in the ring too which was good. But damn, I was so disappointed! Wanted a new champ, but Taker haven’t had the belt for long either so maybe next PPV? Overall, good match.

Disappointing that Punk didn’t win, but fully expected. Thought the standard was alot better than recent Smackdowns, and all four got good time in the ring. Enjoyed the match and the PPV as a whole, better than the last few PPVs.

I cant judge this time not buying this PPV, disappointing that Taker is still the WC – yeah sure! Congrats to Finlay and the guys on the BLUE TEAM who won for Smackdown the pics on WWE site looked very cool, at least the real wrestling show got the right to brag! Im happy about that!

Much better than hell in a cell which was a load of nonsense, certainly better for Mr Taker who was in the thick of the action with a ring full of champions and not having to move around too much. Im not convinced in him as per usual but it was at least somewhat entertaining. Does smackdown have any face characters with everyone but Rey and Morrison turning heel? The Miz beating Morrison was less than stupid however. Say no more bout that! The team match was insane! Big Show has some explaining to do over at RAW and maybe Shawn and Triple H should think about coming to smackdown, they are not too popular at the present time at RAW I would think.

It was passable, not sure it was worth the cost of the ppv. The drama and the controversy of heel-turns and betrayals from inside both brands was what made the difference.

I just read a curious excerpt from an interview on ‘Headline Planet.com’ with Triple H in regard to the controversy over the failings of the Undertaker/Cm Punk feud. As follows from Headline Planet.com…

Though Triple H identified CM Punk as one of the breakout WWE Superstars, he nonetheless does not believe WWE handled his feud with the aging Undertaker incorrectly.“All the stars are at a certain level. You can’t make someone a star by simply bringing other stars down. That’s not how the business works; it’s not how it’s ever worked. The new stars have to rise on their own. What big star ever laid down for me,” asks Triple H in Powerslam Magazine, adding, “…you put C.M. Punk in a 30-minute match with The Undertaker, it’s 50-50 all the way and then Punk wins clean, the fans won’t accept it. It does nothing for C.M. Punk, and it’s also detrimental to the Undertaker.”

What a load of shit Triple H! What kind of praise is that to CM Punk when you pat him on the back with your left hand then slap him in the face with your right. The simple fact is that the Undertaker and CM Punk have not had a real 30 minute match because the Undertaker cant go for that long. Hell in a Cell lasted 8 minutes!, the few matches on Smackdown were all over around the same time or less, extended only by interference by third persons ie Long/ Armstrong/ chair-chasing etc etc. And who gives a fuck how the business works behind the scenes, there has to be a level of reality and I for one are not satisfied with seeing a 31 year old lethal weapon like CM PUNK who has more actual fighting skills than youve had hot dates Triple H, laying down to an old guy who wins only because he has a glorious past history with the WWE. WWE does not owe the Undertaker anything – he has had his time in the sun, 20 years is a pretty good run. Thats the past pal, its history!, it means nothing except for historians and authors. It certainly means shit to me and means shit to the fans who have at least a small ounce of intelligence when they view fight sports or even fight entertainment. And if you know anything about anything Triple H, you would understand in EVERY sport, stars are MADE with the defeat of the old guard… thats a fact. CM Punk is a wrestling genius of the likes of your mate Shawn Michaels and I kid you not, I know fighters and this kid is being held back without good reason. The ruination of great talent occurs when the new (and better) fighters are continuously sacrificed for the never-ending legacy of the old brigade. The Undertaker is the softest World Champion at his present standing, of any wrestler I can think of. No-one is asking for something unfair being dished out to the Undertaker, he has my respect like yours, but fans and critics just want what is based on some reality. The guy comes back and a couple of weeks later they give him the World Title – a real Title or not, thats BS! Punk could finish of ol’ Taker by just running him round the ring long enough to induce a heart attack, simply because as anyone who knows fighters can see, the Undertaker is unfit and his stamina is not up to matching a 30/31 year old who is in his PRIME. Trust me, Punk is a guy who is built to last the long haul. The only way the Undertaker would beat Punk would be with a lucky big punch! And the fans WILL accept CM Punk winning clean because he has the skills to win clean, its based on a reality, not that he has been allowed to win clean since Matt Hardy, how far back was that? Its insulting! CM Punk is doing his job and earning his paychecks and we see that but dont preach to us fans about what we will accept or wont accept! Got it H ! And furthermore there is no shame in the Undertaker losing clean to CM Punk or any great fighter, because that is what happens, we all eventually lose to someone better, bigger, tougher, harder, faster, younger etc etc, its the way of warriors! No it is NOT detrimental to the Undertaker to lose clean to CM Punk if Punk is the better wrestler and a lot of us are saying he is better, by a country mile… The Undertaker has dishonoured CM Punk by coming back unfit and clearly not at his best, the WWE has dishonoured CM Punk by gifting his EARNED World Title to the Undertaker who cant go 15 minutes with the guy. And you Triple H have dishonoured CM Punk and ALL wrestling fans by justifying WWE’s strategies against common sense, against pound for pound fight skill-based reality and against what TRUE WRESTLING fans want. Anyhow, how the hell would you know what the fans want? Your fans are really Shawn’s fans by association!

Ofcourse this is just my opinion, like you I have an opinion and I will express it because Im a fan and that is my right! ACCEPT THAT!

A great read and a great write punknut, Ive read it back a few times, really good. Its strange how someone like triple h just jumps out of the box with no real reasoning as to why he would instigate a subtle underhanded jab at CM Punk. Im particularly fascinated that he said “No-body ever laid down for me!” Well, no-body is laying down for CM PUNK either Hunter, but Punk seems to be laying down a lot lately for everyone else, especially the Taker, so I dont really get your argument that ‘no-body laid down for you!” That smells of jealously. You need to pull your head out of your own backside Hunter and let CM Punk do his thing and lay off claiming what the fans want. You have little clue what the fans want.

It is called aptly ‘IS HUNTER HELPING???’ It seems that a few people in different circles, fan-based and professional-based online wrestling journals are questioning the statements made by Triple H and his motives for making such statements.

I searched out the above article from John C, for some who want to read it, once the page opens its at the bottom right ledger of the webpage filed under /guest editorials/. The puncknut’s take was actually more credible regardless of the cussing and swearing he injected into his essay. But Justin Shook does make some of the same assertions, that Hunter could be doing more to help promote the youth with WWE rather than by making potentially inflammatory statements like ‘what big star ever laid down for me?’ when fact in truth be told CM Punk seems to be the one doing all the laying down for the lesser abled wrestlers such as the Undertaker of recent times. The article is actually called “IS HUNTER HELPING OR HURTING THE YOUTH MOVEMENT WITHIN WWE?” The title is actually a better representation of the subject matter than Mr Shooks article specifically.

The one thing that is clear is that Hunter//Triple H probably should not have made such definitive statements which seem only to upset fans and perhaps some of the younger rising stars in the wrestling community. And I absolutely agree with the puncknuts opinion that all other sports support the new rising stars achieving their own greatness by defeating existing champions. And prodigy’s like Cm Punk should not be restrained or hobbled in their ambitions in aim of pandering and appeasing athletes who are past their used-by date.

I have read a few responses on the web to Triple H’s comments, and all seem to be asking the same question – what the hell is it to do with Him? Punknut’s response summed it up perfectly – and the swearing only shows the passion that he has for wrestling which everyone here on the comments page knows he has. The question I would ask is did WWE sanction this interview? Remember a few weeks ago when Mysterio did an unsanctioned interview in Mexico and WWE got really pissed off with him – apparently! Well, if this has been passed by WWE what is the point in it? Make HHH look like he’s in charge? Make Punk look untalented/unliked? Make Undertaker look good? either way all its done is annoy fans everywhere be they Punk or Taker fans! The reasoning on this one is truly lost on me!

Julie, I read the spoilers, this feels like some sort of underhanded PUNISHMENT to CM PUNK from the WWE (it may not be, but it sure feels that way – Punk completely out of Title contention!) for being so outstanding and perhaps moreso a PUNISHMENT to his fans for being so vocal about the perceived treatment of CM Punk since the comeback this time around of the failed Undertaker. I hate injustice! And I hate the way things are apparently run inside the WWE. It does look like they just want to make money rather than be serious about actual wrestling. That is a perception, it may not be factual, but it looks that way to me.

Hi there CmPunk and fans. A newby here. An amazing website and amazing comments, so happy to have my say as well. Im taking a real and immediate disliking to Triple H at the moment over this. And I find it absolute ass-end stuff that CmPunk is now wrestling a referee rather than contending for titles. To the last commenters here, it does look and feel kind of like some sort of beneath the belt punishment aimed at Cm Punk and his loyal fans for the backlash over our not accepting the disasterous undertaker thing and our not accepting the outlandish and plain stupid undertaker victories over Cm Punk. Cm Punks fans are smarter and more aggressive than the fans of the other wrestlers and it is because of Punks grass-roots appeal and his hard-knocks upbringing that fans are particularly devoted and protective of him. He is the Eddie Vedder of the sports world and I believe other wrestlers/sports stars would kill for such supportive and energetic fans. Triple H’s uncalled-for comments smack of him sounding somewhat envious of CmPunks hardcore fans at the reality of he himself not securing a loyal army of his own throughout his career. Unfortunately for Triple H his career is forever tied to Shawn Michaels stellar career and reputation and will always be somewhat in the shadows of his almighty tag-team partner. What baffles me is how unintelligent the WWE seems to be in reaction to the criticisms or that when things were going drastically wrong upon the undertakers problematic return, how the WWE just pushed the criticisms aside and gave the undertaker the world title anyway and without even much time to make his win look in any way convincing. It was pathetic to watch. And CM Punk has effectively not beaten him in any real sense and a blind begger could see that CM Punk is the true champion and has been all throughout this caper. And when dickheads (and yes I’ll use passionate expletives too if I so feel inclined!) like Triple H come out to quietly give Punk and his fans a subtle backhand, it only makes us fans even angrier and more devoted to CM PUNK and we jump up and down a little bit more. And if there is criticism of Punk’s fans then reading the other comment pages on this website one will see they are actually complementory to the WWE when WWE does things right whether it involves Cm Punk or not. Unfortunately, Triple H has done nothing but make the situation a whole lot worse.

***Reading this page and all the comments has been interesting for me, I frequent a few different forums and few if any are discussing things like this, CMPUNK.COM should be happy to have such exhuberant and educated fans. And perhaps I may have the last word on this and put Triple H out of his misery once and for all by refuting with an example all of the above words which he stated. Over the last weeks, say six weeks or so we have watched, well for those fans who watch the B-show Raw, the big push and rise and rise of ‘LEGACY’ which refutes Triple H’s words emphatically. The WWE has been pushing LEGACY very hard over the last two months or so, and part of that push into legitimacy with the WWE and the WWE Universe involved as the MAIN MEANS TO ACHIEVE THIS the unlikely defeat of DX, Shawn Michaels and Triple H himself, something very few people thought would have happened or been credible considering Legacy’s middle-ground popularity, even with their heel status or pedigree. Simply evaluated there is little chance Legacy would have been elevated to their current status without the emphatic defeat of DX which they achieved to considerable hype and fanfare. And Legacy used this as ‘evidence’ and WWE helped them reinforce their more heavyweight persona in their self-promotions after their victory against DX and it was true for all to see that ” Legacy ” had arrived! Their status and profile as a tag team is now stronger than it was, significantly. Previously they were at the Hart Dynasty level but now are considerably more important thanks to them “bringing down other stars”, indeed bringing down the biggest tag team in WWE , DX. There is little chance that Legacy would have gone to the next level and re-positioned itself on a higher rung on WWE’s ladder without the defeat of a great and perhaps almost legendary tag team, particularly as others here have noted a team that includes as one half of its membership the esteemed Shawn Michaels. Anything involving Shawn Michaels within the WWE is as comparable to a blessing from the Pope!
*** Another example refuting Triple H’s statement is the rise from nowhere to legitimacy within the WWE of Drew McIntire. The tall Scotsman appears out of the blue and is almost overnight given a forum to a successful career thanks to the infamous apparent signing by the Chairman Vince McMahon with a statement by McMahon assuring the WWE Universe that McIntire will be World Heavyweight Champion! And McIntire has not lost a match, a brawl, hasnt been humbled or brown-nosed in any real way since his arrival which is unusual for greenhorns. It seems to me that this star is not on the same beginners level as the other stars on his roster but has an arriving status more elevated than most of his peers and fellow wrestlers. I think we can say of Drew McIntire that he is a star who is not rising on his own at all !
*** I wonder what the true underlying reasons were for Triple H in making those comments? Particularly as his words are not based upon actuality, ie the Legacy example per se proves that. Stars are created and do rise to greater power by specifically defeating other stars considered greater. Im sorry Triple H but your statements are one hundred percent unfounded and extremely flawed.

And I feel you have argued successfully that Triple H’s words were badly chosen and perhaps based around other motives, some here have suggested jealousy of CmPunks natural abilities others have suggested his own possible friendship with the Undertaker. We as fans will never truly know, what we do know however is that Triple H’s words on this matter lack real conviction and lack substance.

That proves the point, in my mind mystery meat finished off the page perfectly with some common sense truth and really there is nothing for any of us to further say except hello Hunter, hope you are having an awesome week!
